Is debating policy an attack? How this relates to the Merkley/Novick race.
Chris Matthews makes some good remarks during this segment of Hardball as it relates to Novick's questioning of Merkley's record. Is questioning some one's past stance attacking them. Please watch the clip:

I don't think I've ever agreed with Chris Matthews so much... (It kind of scares me.)
The next clip was about Senator Clinton's "aura of inevitability." I think that one might be somewhat germane to examining our Senate Primary race as well.
A vote is a vote and it is a part of political debate. What you have to hope when you do a critique or are criticized is that your supporters won't lose their minds and take action to rein them in when it starts happening (assuming you can).
This stuff playing out in the blogs isn't going to have great vote impact, but it is going to have activist impact and that can hurt in the general if it becomes unreasonable and personal.
